Tilari Dam:
Situated in Tilari Village (25 kms away from city) is constructed on river Tilari as joint project by Maharashtra & Goa governments. Water from this dam is dispersed to both the states. The total irrigation potential of the Tilari irrigation project in Goa is 1862 hectare comprising 1139 hectare on the right bank main canal and 723 hectare on the left. But as on March 2009, only 301 hectares have been brought under cultivation on the right bank main canal and 165 hectares on the left bank main canal. Area is well covered with greenery & animals like Elephants,Monkeys,Tigers,Deers can be easily noticed in this region. People from Goa & Karnataka often visit here over the weekends & vacation. Efforts are being made to build garden here in order to make Tilari an eye-catching tourism spot. |
